# Auto sold-out badge

Instead of assigning a sold-out badge value by value, you can turn on a single **Auto sold-out badge** in **Global settings** — it automatically shows a "Sold out" label on every out-of-stock variant across your whole store, with no assignment needed.

### How to set it up

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Go to **Global settings** → turn on **Auto sold-out badge**

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose what happens when a value already has a manual badge

<table><thead><tr><th width="214">Option</th><th>Behavior</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Keep the manual badge</strong></td><td>The manual badge keeps showing even when the variant is out of stock.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Override</strong></td><td>The auto sold-out badge replaces the manual badge while the variant is out of stock. The manual badge reappears when stock is restored.</td></tr></tbody></table>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Customize the badge appearance

Set the **badge text** (default: *Sold out*), **text color**, **background color**, **position**, and **shape** — the same options as a manual badge, with a live preview.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click Save

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**Note:** The Auto sold-out badge in Global settings is completely separate from per-badge "Auto · Sold out" presets in the Variant badges page. You can use both at the same time — the conflict resolution dropdown only applies when both are active on the same value.
