# Assign an option set to products and customers
After you add options to an option set, you choose **where** it appears (which products) and **for whom** (which customers). You do this in the second and third steps of the option set editor:
* **1. Add options**
* **2. Select products**
* **3. Select customers**

An option set only appears on your storefront when its status is **Live** and it is applied to a product. See [Active/Deactivate the option set](broken://pages/IArNw9aIL6fNoU6XN2kC).

## 2. Select products
Open **2. Select products**, and under **Apply option set to** choose one of the following:
| Choice | What it does |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **All products** | Shows the option set on every product in your store. |
| **Specific products** | Shows the option set only on the products you pick. |
| **Specific collections** | Applies the option set automatically to the products in the collections you pick. |
| **Specific product tags** | Applies the option set automatically to the products that have one of the tags you enter. |
| **Specific variants** | Shows the option set only for the variants you pick. For it to switch correctly when customers change variant, install [Option set for specific variants](broken://pages/2lM8EwXKsupvuSvXSJhi). |
| **Not assigned** | Keeps the option set saved but does not show it on any product. |
**Specific collections**, **Specific product tags** and **Specific variants** need the **Platinum** plan. On other plans they appear greyed out with the required plan next to the name. See [Plans and feature availability](/product-options/getting-started/plans-and-features.md).
If you click **Save** without choosing where to apply the option set, the app shows **No products selected**. Choose a product condition (or **Not assigned**) and save again.
### Exclude products
Under **Exclude products** you can keep the option set off some products even when it applies to many:
* **None** - do not exclude anything.
* **By product tag** - enter the tags to exclude. Products with any of these tags do not show the option set.
### Priority
If several option sets apply to the same product, only one of them is live on that product. Use **Priority** (a number from 0 to 99) to decide which one: **the option set with the lower priority number is shown first.**
In **Applied products** (open it from the **Products** column of the Option sets list), the option sets that are not used on a product show as **Inactive** for that product. See [Manage option sets](/product-options/getting-started/manage-option-sets.md).
## 3. Select customers
Open **3. Select customers**, and under **Show option set to** choose who sees the option set:
* **All customers** (default)
* **Registered customers** - customers who are logged in to an account
* **Customers without accounts** - customers who are not logged in
* **Specific customers** - pick customers from your customer list
* **Specific customer tags** - customers who have one of the tags you enter, for example VIP, Wholesale or Member
Only **All customers** is available on every plan. The other choices need the **Platinum** plan.
## Premium option set
A [Premium option set](/product-options/getting-started/plans-and-features.md) can only be applied to **one product or one variant**. For it, the choices are limited to **Not assigned**, **Specific products** (one product) and **Specific variants** (one variant), and **Exclude products** is turned off.
